Clear Tall Cup (for Measuring Jar
– instructions below),
Food Coloring, 8 oz Measuring Cup (for water and alcohol)
Not Supplied: Rubbing Alcohol (shipping restrictions), Tape, Water
NOTE: This is very hard to see the difference. Use a
fine tip to draw the lines.
We tested with 70% and 91% alcohol, and the
difference was not significant either way.
Instructions for Measuring Jar:
1. Put a strip of masking tape down the side of the tall cup.
2. Pour 1 cup of water with a few drops of food coloring into
the tall cup.
3. Mark the tape at the water level. – Use a fine line to be
able to see the difference.
4. Pour a 2nd cup of water in the tall cup – mark
the tape at the 2nd cup water level.
5. Pour out the water and begin the experiment!
